Design Visualization

Project 1

Brief: We need to produce 8 pics of sketch of different topic
1.Sketch body parts/figures/nature
2.Object projection,
3.Geometric projection
4.A city
5.One point perspective of an area in Taylor's University
6.Two point perspective of an area in Taylor's University
7.Details in Taylor's University
8.Trace a picture of a building using free hand.

Reflection of Project 1
My sketching skill is very poor before I came in to DV, when I'm doing this project, I have learned some rendering skills such as cross hatching, zigzag, stippling and etc. After completing this project, my sketching skill has improved a bit, but i still think that there's a lot of improvement that I can make. Learning how to draw one point and two point perspective really helps me a lot when I'm doing project 2,3 and 4.

Project 2

The objectives of this project are as follows:
To apply basic principles and elements of design and drawing as a language to visualise and to
communicate ideas.
To demonstrate observation and visualisation skills in a variety of ways depending on the area of
specialisation being pursued with an emphasis on the process of drawing.

On successful completion of this assignment, students will be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Identify the fundamental principles, elements and techniques in sketching, drawing, design process and
presentation skills.
2. Demonstrate observation skills and be able to record, organize, interpret and describe a variety of issues
via visual communications effectively.
3. Manipulate variety of media and techniques to visualize ideas leading to a finish product
4. Apply drawing as a means of communication in order to express two dimensional and three dimensional
ideas.

In this project, we need to produce
1. One page for INTRODUCTION of the site and project.
2. One LAYOUT PLAN of the site at the scale of 1:50.
3. One DETAILED PLAN of the site at the scale of 1:50.
4. Three/Four ELEVATIONS related to the plan and site at the scale of 1:50.
5. ONE - one point or two point perspective sketched perspectives and ONE - sketched
    axonometric.
6. One page of details sketches applying the glass box theory of elements related to the site given.
7. ONE page to illustrate a Bubble Diagram
8. ONE page to illustrate a Bubble Diagram for the entire level of the area
9. ONE or TWO page to illustrate Diagrammatic Analysis on the area or level or block

Project 2 Reflection
After completing this project, I've learn how to draw floor plan, detailed plan, elevations, axonometric, bubble diagrams and etc. This project is very time consuming because we need to measures a lot of things in the library, including the windows, 3M systems, the height of the ceiling and etc. Overall, I think this project is very useful for me in the future.

Project 3
Brief: With the site given in Project 2, we were required to produce a site analysis on a maximum of 15 A3 papers as a group. The site analysis contained a location plan, a site context, the size and zoning of the site, the natural and man-made features located around the site, circulation of the site, utilities at the site, sensory perception of the site, human culture and activities at the site, climate and a SWOT analysis of the site. Individually, we were required to prepare a case study on a maximum of 2 A3 papers to propose an idea of what installation would be suitable for the final project.

Project 3 Reflection
Through this assignment, I noticed that site analysis is very important to study the site, by doing site analysis, we can know many details of the site. I also learnt how to express important information by using diagrams. We also done a presentation of our site analysis.

Project 4

For the final project, we were required to undergo a design process to aid us in presenting our idea for the wall installation. The project was divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. In Part A, we were required to document our design ideas and the process of obtaining our design. The presentation was conducted 3 weeks before our final presentation. In part B, we were required to produce a presentation board on 2 A2 media of our choice containing the design development, site analysis, propose plan and elevations, three sketched perspectives, one photomontage and a final model.

Project 4 Reflection
In the process of doing this project, I was able to think creatively to design a creative wall installation which suits the library reception area. I have learnt how to do a presentation board and express my design on the presentation board, it is also very time consuming because the presentation boards are A2 size.
